Developing ecosystem accounts for protected areas in England and Scotland - WC1107
Description
The aim of the project is to scope and pilot ecosystem accounts for a selected suite of protected area landscapes that consist of a variety of habitats and produce multiple ecosystem services. As a result the project will have two benefits; it will (a) serve to test and apply spatially disaggregated accounting methodologies which is crucial to the successful development of natural capital accounting, a Natural Environment White Paper commitment; and (b) provide a valuable tool to help inform ecosystem resource management decisions within the pilot areas. There are 2 broad objectives:
Stage 1 – a scoping study to assess the potential for such accounts
Stage 2 - compilation and evaluation of pilot accounts within selected protected areas
