NANR 314: An investigation into the effect of historic noise policy interventions. - NO0234

Description
Aim: To assess the effectiveness of various historic policy measures that were designed to manage noise since the introduction of the Noise Abatement Act in 1960 in order to inform the delivery of the Noise Policy Statement for England.
Objective
Aim: To assess the effectiveness of various historic policy measures that were designed to manage noise since the introduction of the Noise Abatement Act in 1960 in order to inform the delivery of the Noise Policy Statement for England.

Objectives:

• Examine the effectiveness of at least 6 policy measures introduced since 1960 that were designed to manage noise since that time.

• Assess how noise impacts and effects have changed in response to the selected policy measures, the effects being quantified where possible.

• Consider what lessons might be learned.

• Where any gaps in the evidence are found that inhibit the assessment of effectiveness, suggest how the risk of future gaps might be minimised in future.
