Environmental noise valuation - the costs and benefits of remediation measures (NANR 201) - NO0223

Description
To investigate the practicalities of acrrying out CBA assessments of noise mitigation projects, drawing on case studies where this has been done in practices, and using the case studies to provide lessons learnt and practicla tools which could be used by planning officers.
Objective
To provide case studies of the the appraisal of noise mitigation projects has been carried out in the past, giving examples where monetary CBA has been applied in practice and examples where alternative approaches have been taken, such as qualiitative CBA or an alternative type of assessment such as cost effectiveness assessment (CEA). This should include discussion of the different methodologies which have been applied in practice and the pros and cons of different approaches.

To provide practical tools which will assist at a policy level and at a local authority level, establishing where money may be best allocated to target noise.
