Integrating biodiversity into decision making in the Overseas Territories - WC1001

Description
The successful contractor will undertake research to improve our understanding of the impact of invasive species in one or more of the UK South Atlantic Overseas Territories and/or research which promotes the development of solutions for addressing these impacts. The contractor will have considerable flexibility in developing the research approach, but the project must address impacts in the terrestrial, freshwater or coastal environment (marine ecosystems are excluded), involve organisations based in the Overseas Territories and must demonstrate how the research will support practical or policy action in the relevant Territories. All findings will be disseminated through appropriate media
Objective
Proposals are invited for research projects that address one or more of the following research priorities identified by the Governments of the UK Overseas Territories in the South Atlantic:
1. Identifying and quantifying the scale and nature of the impact of invasive species (this may include ecological or economic impacts, or both)
2. Developing solutions to address these impacts, either through development of control/eradication measures or through the establishment of prevention measures including rapid identification and risk assessment.
