The effects of climate change on the ornithological interest of the UK’s Special Protection Areas - WC0750

Description
The project will predict the likely consequences of climate change on internationally important bird populations in the UK SPA series. It will also identify areas not currently within the SPA series which may come to support internationally important numbers of birds as climate changes.
Objective
To identify potential and actual impacts, at SPA level, of climate change, taking into account predicted shifts in ‘climate space’, likely changes in land management in response to climate change and the known biological responses of selected taxa to such changes. To predict SPA population-level consequences of change and to identify geographical location of sites which could, with suitable management, become host to taxa which have moved geographical location as climate has changed.
