Description
R&D Summary Objectives:- Conclude the enhancement trials at Scapa flow, Orkney and Ardtoe by monitoring recaptures to establish survival rates, growth rates and dispersion, and examine the economic viability of enhancement. Key customer purpose:- Provide support to MAFF's stock enhancement programme.
Objective
1. To quantify the effectiveness of laying out juvenile, hatchery produced lobsters at Scapa Flow, Orkney and Ardtoe, Argyll. 2. Relate the above to the results obtained form parallel trials at Bridlington and Aberystwyth run by MAFF and NW and NW SFC. 3. Obtain an overall figure for the maximum released cost of hatchery produced juveniles, expressed as a percentage of mean annual market value for lobsters, which would sustain viable stock enhancement. 4.
