Real-time flow forecasting - FD0402

Description
Summary Objectives:-
To maintain the HYREX (HYdrological Radar EXperiment) database for the three years April 1997 to March 2000 with rainfall data collected from the high density rain gauge network. This will provide an underpinning data set to support research into the use of weather radar data to improve rainfall forecasts.

Key Customer Purpose:-
To develop techniques for improving the efficiency and reliability of real-time fluvial flood forecasting. Part of a wider NERC funded project HYDREX whose overall aim is to investigate whether and how weather radar data can be used to forecast the spatial distribution of rainfall.
