United Kingdom marine atlas project. - AE0705

Description
NON R&D Summary Objectives:- Participation in the NERC established UKDMAP marine mapping system in order to ensure the inclusion of all relevant marine environment information, both maps and data, held within DFR. Key customer purpose:- Enable the body of information on the coastal environment to be readily accessed, thus improving the efficiency of providing advice on the effects of dumping, discharges, mineral extraction, construction and other activities in the coastal zone. Additionally to help MAFF fulfil its obligations under EC Shellfish legislation to designate coastal waters.
Objective
To create and maintain a computerised archive of marine environmental information which improves the efficiency and reduces the cost of the formulation of advice by Conwy staff on the effects of dumping, discharges, mineral extraction, constructions and other activities on fisheries.
