Improved assessment of eutrophication effects in coastal waters - AE1020

Summary Objectives:-
Using conventional labour intensive methods e.g. release of oxygen and new more direct methods, such as bio-optical measures, examine the response of phytoplankton to nutrient levels in coastal waters to improve estimates of primary production.

Key Customer Purpose:-
Through a better understanding of the relationship between nutrient enrichment and primary production, enable DEFRA to fully participate in international discussions on eutrophication and its effect on the marine environment.
