National Soils Inventory - new elements data (Follow on LE0305) - LE0305

Description
(Transferring to SR0103 in 1994/95)

LE0305. National soils inventory. Particle-size analysis.

The National Soil Inventory (NSI) for England and Wales consists of site information and chemical data for almost 6000 points spaced on a regular grid. This study will aim to determine the particle size distribution of all the mineral soils in the NSI sample set and to enter the data obtained from this analysis into the Land Information System (LandIS) database. Information relating to particle size distribution will allow reliable quantitative comparison of the soil properties measured during the NSI programme. It is anticipated that analysis of the above data will have considerable implications for issues such as soil acidification, land contamination and elemental excesses and deficiencies.
