The potential loss of I-129 from milk during storage - RP0440

To determine whether the loss of I-129 during the storage of a milk sample is a significant effect. Losses will be monitored over a 3 month period and subsamples taken periodically and analysed for I-129 content. If there is noteable loss of the isotope this may have important consequences in interpreting current dose estimates for this isotope.
1. Monitoring the I-129 content of milk over a three month period. 2. Determination of the extent of I-129 loss from milk over this period. 3. Investigation of whether the loss of I-129 from milk is a real and significant effect.
