The effects of implementing best practice and supplementing ewes with Vitamin E on reducing lamb mortality - LS1507

Objective
1. To quantify the value of hydrolysed feather meal as a source of ME and digestible amino acids for broiler strains. 2. To assess interactions of feather meal utilisation with other protein sources. 3. To assess the acceptability of the above materials to growing birds by means of choice-feeding experiments. 4. To quantify the value of legume seeds as sources of ME and digestible amino acids. 5. To assess the effect of proprietary enzyme preparations on the nutritional value of legume seeds. 6. To measure the performance of growing birds on a range of inclusion of the above protein sources and screen for differences in portion yield and organleptic qualities. 7. To assess the value of high-protein, particularly high-lysine, barley cultivars (with and without treatment with proprietary enzymes. 8. To assess the value of linseed oil cake as a protein and energy source. 9. To examine the value of linseed oil as a source of energy and linolenic acid.
