To quantify seed germination and seedling emergence characteristics of some important weeds of vegetable crops.. - HH2008SFV

Description
To quantify seed germination and seedling emergence characteristics of some important weeds of vegetable crops as a basis for refined weed control strategies.
Objective
(i) To determine the germination characteristics of important weed species under controlled conditions in the laboratory.
(ii) To quantify the factors that affect emergence of weed species from artificially created soil seedbanks.
(iii) To develop further and validate a model describing seedling emergence from seeds in the soil weed seedbank.
(iv) To relate previously gathered weed seedling emergence data to meteorological records, and by identifying the characteristic weather patterns that precede flushes of seedling emergence, extend the predictive capacity of the seedling emergence model.
