Stress-induced gene expression in lymphoid cell: the influence of antioxidant supplementation - AN0430

Objective
Overall objective: to provide a greater understanding of how antioxidant nutrient status affects lymphoid cell gene expression. 1. Observation of HSP expression by Molt-3 cells induced by exposure to 10u M H2O2 in the presence of vitamin C and or vitamin E and following removal of antioxidants. 2. Measurement of NF-Kappa B and HSF in Molt-3 cells treated as in (1). 3. Recruitment of volunteers and establishment of a double-blind, randomised, placebo- controlled crossover study of vitamin C and vitamin E supplementation. 4. Confirmation of antioxidant levels in blood samples of volunteers by conventional biochemical indices before, during and after supplementation. 5. Investigation of HSP expression and NF-kappa B and HSF activation in volunteers mononuclear leukocytes isolated before, during and after antioxidant supplementation. 6. Decoding of study results, statistical analysis and publication.
