A model system for the quantitative analysis of horizontal spread of DNA from genetically engineered microorganisms GIT - FS0206

Objective
1.To construct a lactic acid bacterial GEM. 2.Using this, to test for horizontal DNA transfer into human gut microflora, by means of: (i) and (ii)rat feeding experiments; and use of genetically-marked derivative of human Enterococcus faecalis strain, (iii)in vitro; and (iv)in a further rat feeding experiment. 3.To construct a yeast : bacterial shuttle vector. 4.Using this, to test for horizontal DNA transfer into human gut microflora, by means of a further rat feeding experiment.
