Development of mechanistic models for the prediction of intake - DS0404

Objective
(i) Assessment of the contribution of particle associated micro-organisms to fibre degradation and particle breakdown. (ii) Integration of the effects if eating and ruminating characteristics on particle comminution and extent of degestion in the rumen. (iii) Improved quantification of the profile of volatile fatty acids in rumen liquid for silage based diets at several levels of intake. (iv) Integration of physical and anatomical plant characteristics in relation to plant breakdown. (v) Integration of dynamics of liquids and particle outflow rate from rumen.
