Estimation of fermentable energy in compound feed ingredient for ruminants - DS0102

Objective
Objective 1. To develop a method for directly measuring the fermentable energy fraction of ingredients used in compound feeds and its rate(s) of fermenmtation. This aspect of the work will occupy the first half of the project (October 1994 - March 1996). Objective 2. To examine how the fermentation of mixtures of ingredients relates to the values obtained on the individual ingredients themselves (April 1996 -March 1997) Objective 3. To develop a database of fermentable energy values for individual compound feed ingredients (April 1996 -September 1997) INTERDEPENDENCE OF OBJECTIVE(S) All objectives are essential to achieve the overall objective. Objectives 2 and 3 are completely dependant upon the successful completion of Objective 1.
