`Surveillance to establish the effectiveness of aflatoxins regulations. Figs, nuts, milk and related products.` - FS2821

Milk, nuts, figs and products derived therof, will be analysed for aflatoxins. This surveillance will check the effectiveness of regulations in ensuring that aflatoxin levels in these commodities remain low.
Total aflatoxin levels in nuts and figs, and products thereof, are regulated by SI No. 3236 (1992). Aflatoxin levels in milk and milk products intended for human consumption are controlled indirectly by limits on aflatoxin content in feedingstuffs regulations. The surveillance data generated by this project will be used to check that these two sets of regulations are effective in keeping aflatoxin levels low.
