Review of collation methods for environmental monitoring data provided by nuclear operators. - RP0309

To review the ways in which environmental monitoring data is collected and passed to MAFF by nuclear operators. To review how the data could be collected electronically and formatted in a consistent way. To generate a requirement specification for the data handling such that a software solution could be provided. The objective would be to provide the starting documentation for the development of a system capable of handling the data, sorting and retrieving as required and presentation of the data in a consistent and accessible way.
The final objective of the project is to improve MAFF's capability in collecting, sorting and extracting environmental monitoring data provided by nuclear operators. The methods of providing data to MAFF and the subsequent data handling techniques will be reviewed. Intermediate objectives:- 1. Understanding the range of data sets being collected and transmitted to MAFF. 2. Review of how the collected data sets match the MAFF requirements for such data in terms of completeness and accuracy. 3. Interim informal proposals for data storage and access within MAFF. 4. Presentation of a draft version of a Requirement Specification and discussion with MAFF. Resolution of outstanding matters. 5.Provision of final version of Requirement Specification and report covering the data collected and the methods by which the processes could be automated.
