`Salmonid ecology and stock enhancement (REPLACED BY SF0212, 4/93)` - SF0203

R&D Summary Objectives:- Identify factors affecting smolt abundance including egg numbers and avian predation, and recommend optimal stock enhancement methods. Key customer purpose:- Enable MAFF to more effectively manage salmon stocks, particularly by regulating man's impact on the river, through an understanding of juvenile salmon ecology.
1.To identify and rank in order of importance the factors affecting the numbers of smolts reaching the sea. 2.To recommend optimal stock enhancement methods. 3.To advise the Ministry, the Salmon Advisory Committee (SAC; an expert group set up by the Minister), or other government departments on the ecology of juvenile salmon as required.
