The effects of radiation on freshwater and coastal aquatic ecosystems (Replaced by AE0116, 4/93). - AE0106
|
Description
R&D
Summary Objectives:-
Assess principal hazards to the aquatic environment arising
from authorised radioactive discharges. Examine the impact
of radionuclides on the immune response and reproductive
success of selected species and refine dosimetry models
which predict effects of discharges on the ecosystem.
Key customer purpose:-
Permit MAFF policy on radio nuclide discharges to take into
account non-public health environmental risks.
|
Objective
To assess hazards to the temperate aquatic environment
(fresh and marine) that may be arising from radioactive
waste discharges authorised by the Ministry on the basis of
adequate protection of man.
To provide significant scientific information needed for the
drawing up of criteria for the protection of temperate
aquatic ecosystems.
