A review of evidence defining fishing dependent communities - ME5119
|
Description
This project aims to review the current knowledge base of fishing dependent communities, how such communities are defined and measured, and how such communities respond to social, economic and policy changes. |
Objective
Key questions that inform the rapid evidence assessment include: • Review how fishing dependent communities are defined across a range of UK and international case studies incorporating both theoretical and practical approaches; • Review how fishing dependent communities are assessed using both quantitative and qualitative indicators in UK and international cases; • Explore how related concepts such as vulnerability and resilience are incorporated into fishing dependent communities. • Explore how mapping fishing dependent communities can support policy drivers in relation to strategic assessments, marine planning, marine protected areas and fisheries management.
