Tracking threats and impacts of invasive non-native species in Great Britain: GB Non-Native Species Information Portal - BE0176

Description
The aim of this project is to build on the outcomes of Defra project WC1038 to:

1. Track and report changes in the rate, scale and impact of non-native species introductions to GB and significant changes in abundance, distributions and trends of non-native species in Great Britain
2. Predict and rapidly verify non-native species introductions to Great Britain
3. Maintain and improve technical systems and information available within the GB Non-native Species Information Portal
Objective
To build on the outcomes of Defra project WC1038 to predict, verify and track changes in the rate, scale and impact of non-native species introductions to Great Britain and significant changes in abundance, distributions and trends of non-native species in Great Britain; to make this information available in particular through the GB Non-Native Species Information Portal.

The contract will deliver the following objectives:

1. Verify and report alerts for interceptions of new introductions.
2. Maintain and update all aspects of the NNSIP database and web service including the Asian hornet triage system and App.
3. Improve the flow of data on non-native species, ensuring, that where possible, data are widely available to support research and decision making, through the NBN-Atlas and NNSIP.
4. Analyse trends in non-native species introduction, spread and impact, continuing to verify and report
5. Update the non-native species indicators annually:
6. Horizon scan for emerging threats.
7. Support surveillance for NNS
8. Synergies with recording of non-native species under other regimes in GB
