Development of Rural and Urban Classification for Local Authorities and other higher geographies in England. - RE0275

Description
This project aims to produce a rural and urban classification of administrative geographies, such as Local Authorities and Counties etc. These classifications will be used for statistical analysis to enable the Department to produce products such as the Statistical Digest of Rural England (monitor outcome for rural England).

The project was extended in 2014 to include an analysis of land use change in Protected Landscapes (PL) of England 2001 to 2011.
Objective
- To review existing classifications for local authorities and other higher geographies.
- To investigate methods for identifying hub towns of greater than 10,000 population and present options.
- To develop and deliver a set of agreed Rural and Urban Classifications for Local Authorities and other higher geographies in England.
