Access to insurance for small businesses, and the impact of this on local recovery/growth - FD2689

Description
The aim of the project is to assess whether there are changes in the affordability of flood insurance for SMEs. The project will provide new data on this issue for small businesses.

The project objective is to gather data about the affordability of insurance for small and medium size businesses. Defra has already secured agreement from BIS to include a short set of questions on flood insurance in the Small Business Survey (SBS). However, due to the use of a nationally representative sample in the SBS, the numbers of achieved interviews in high flood risk areas is too small for any meaningful analysis to be carried out. This project will therefore provide a boost sample of 450 interviews in high flood risk areas to ensure that comparative analysis can be carried out between SMEs in high flood risk areas and those located outside of flood risk areas.

Please note that the outputs of this project will be reported as part of project FD2688 Affordability and availability of flood insurance.
