Analysis of FBS 2011/12 Energy Module - DO0142

The Farm Business Survey 2011/12 has already collected data on the type and quantity of fuels used on farms along with other ways in which energy is brought onto the farm such as bought in feed and agrochemicals. This data was specifically intended to enable this additional analysis which will add significant value by providing analysis which will withstand scrutiny from and be in the form expected by the scientific community. The FBS also enables information on energy usage and consumption to be cross-referenced with data on the financial performance of the same farm, as well as other features, such as technical performance and efficiency and farm type. There is considerable industry interest in measuring energy usage and emissions, and analysing any links between these and economic performance.
There is significant and longstanding policy interest in the relationship between environmental and financial performance and whether the two can be achieved simultaneously.
Results will also contribute to Sustainability of English Farming indicators, an important and groundbreaking analytical and benchmarking tool.
