Global Food Security programme project on food chain - FO0120

Description
The aim of the project is to determine the priority research questions for the UK food system
with the aim of improving its efficiency and effectiveness. The project thereby complements
other efforts that have been focussed on food production (i.e. agriculture ) rather than the f
ull food system. While such studies may have included some questions on markets and
consumption, they were framed from an agriculture viewpoint. This project will therefore
draw on a wider range of ‘world views’ by including skills and interests of all the actors
along the whole food supply chain including consumers. It will include the full suite of food
system “Activities” along the food chain, and food security and other “Outcomes” of these
activities of interest to policy, business and civil society objectives
Objective
The project will:
Consider the impacts of adapting food system activities on all nine food security elements and the synergies/trade-offs between them
Promote improved interactions and partnerships among all stakeholders
Allow for an analysis of the Questions from a range of stakeholders’ viewpoints
Deliver a research agenda that will help all stakeholders.
