Bystander and resident exposure modelling for plant protection products - BROWSE - PS2028

Description
The project is required to provide matched funding for an EU Framework 7 project relating to the development of exposure models for operators, workers, residents and bystanders - acronym BROWSE, as defined by the Work Programme specification (ENV.2010.1.2.3-1)

Silsoe Spray Applications Unit (SSAU) are leading the workpackage relating to bystanders and residents, with objectives to review, improve and extend the models currently used in the risk assessment of PPPs to evaluate the exposure of residents and bystanders, and this comprises the majority of the work to be undertaken by SSAU

SSAU are also involved in contributing to three other objectives:
To involve all relevant stakeholders and end-users and take full account of relevant gender issues in the
development of new and improved assessment methods and policy tools addressing exposure of operators,
workers, residents and bystanders to PPPs
To use new and improved exposure models developed in Work Packages 1-3 to contribute to the implementation of the PPP authorisation Regulation 1107/2009, replacing Directive 91/414/EC
To use new and improved exposure models developed in Work Packages 1-3 to contribute to the implementation of the Thematic Strategy on the Sustainable Use of Pesticides.
