Sustainable Lifestyles Research Group - EV0526

Description
Directed by Professor Jackson, the Sustainable Lifestyles Research Group (SLRG) will develop an integrated, inter-disciplinary understanding of the complex relationships between people’s lifestyles and practices, technological systems and sustainability.

It will use this understanding to build a sound conceptual basis for influencing change processes aimed at sustainable living. The research programme consists of 11 projects to be completed over the next three years and will examine both social psychological variables (values, motivations, cognitive functions) and structural factors (institutions, infrastructures, systems of provision) as influences on change, in a variety of different contexts and settings, including household energy, travel and food.

It will also explore the relationship between research and policy, and the role and remit of policy-makers in enabling or encouraging lifestyle change.

The Group operates as a consortium with a hub at the University of Surrey and key partners at the University of Bath, the University of Sussex, the University of Edinburgh and the Institute for Fiscal Studies.
