Evaluation of access for the less mobile in agri-environment schemes - MA01032
|
Description
Defra wishes to survey the 42 sites that are currently labelled as ‘easy access’ in Defra’s ‘Conservation Walks and Rides’ website. The survey work will generate, and recommend, the sort of site information which should be available on the website in future to enable potential users to decide whether routes are suitable for their needs. All the sites will have to be assessed against the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 (as amended). In addition, the evaluation will include recommended criteria to be used in future to select specialised access sites for the less mobile in Environmental Stewardship and a brief survey of users is required.
Objectives The requirements are broken down into the following objectives.
1. Gather detailed site information for use in the Conservation Walks and Rides website to enable potential users to decide whether routes are suitable for their needs. Develop suitable site survey form for use by RDS
2. Assess whether all sites meet the requirements of the DDA and identify, where appropriate, any remedial measures.
3. Evaluate the current criteria RDS use to approve the inclusion of the HLS ‘access for people with reduced mobility’ option in an agreement and, if appropriate, suggest improvements.
Secondary objective
4. Evaluate the users’ perspective of the 42 ‘easy access’ sites and, where possible, determine the frequency of use.
