Proposal for a project to scope funding areas for Defra in the area of functional crops/ ingredients - FT0815
|
Description
The overall aim of the project is to identify opportunities for future R&D funding in support of the development of functional food crops and ingredients. |
Objective
The specific objectives of the project will be:
1. To identify and assemble a suitable body of expert individuals able to assess the state of knowledge and current research within Europe in the areas relevant to functional crops/ingredients.
2. To organise and hold a facilitated workshop event for up to 50 invited participants including representatives of research funders, academic groups and the UK food chain. This will discuss the match between industrial needs and scientific/technical capabilities and seek to identify opportunities for future research.
3. To prepare a report for Defra setting out the issues and opportunities identified and making recommendations on sources and modes of funding for R&D in the various areas of functional crops & food ingredients.
