Economic Evaluation of MAFF Core Contract Funding for ATBLandbase/LANTRA - ER02015

Description
MAFF has provided contract funding since ATB-Landbase was established in 1994. The current MAFF contract runs for three years to 31 March 2000 and is worth a total of £1.5m. Funding levels will reduce from £700,000 in the first year to £350,000 in the third. Lantra derives funding from a number of other Government sources including Sector Challenge, DfEE and the Scottish Office.

MAFF contract funds Lantra core corporate costs. This funding enables Lantra to bid for Sector Challenge monies and European Funding. It also enables them to undertake DfEE projects where DfEE funding is restricted to non staff costs. Further, it enables Lantra to meet the NTO financial viability criteria in the absence of corporate funding from the industry.

The aim of this evaluation will be to establish whether the funding provided by MAFF through its contract with ATB-Landbase/Lantra has secured the objectives stated in the contract, represents good value for money and is of benefit to the agriculture and commercial horticulture industry
