Communications Contract - AQ01003



netcen manages the air quality communications contract on behalf of Defra and the Devolved Adminstrations. This service collates and disseminate air quality information and data as required by the Air Quality Strategy for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and the EC Directive on Air Quality Management and Assessment and associated Daughter Directives.

Air Quality monitoring data are stored in an on-line database of over 150 million records at Up-to-date figures for the current hour are available as simple pop-up bulletins and weekly graphs of data. More detailed data and statistics are available on screen or through e-mail by querying the database.

Daily air quality bulletins are disseminated automatically by e-mail to over 150 recipients.

The contract also covers a number of other areas:
· Reporting UK annual data sets to the European Commission via it’s DEM software and Airbase.
· Reporting data for the EC Daughter Directive Questionnaire.
· Calculating the UK Headline Air Quality Indicator.
· Responding to ad-hoc queries for data and statistics for PQs, or from the scientific community.
· Publishing air quality reports in an on-line database.
· Publishing air quality contracts information in an on-line database.
· Publishing on-line tools for local air quality management.
· Managing an interactive on-line system for frequently asked questions.
