Ecological Bacterial Biomarkers of Toxicity (ECOBOX) (CDEP 84/5/297) - ME4101
|
Description
SUMMARY OBJECTIVE.
To develop a rapid, sensitive, cost effective, and simple scientific biomarkers for risk assessments of hazardous substances and mixtures in the marine environment.
To study the growth dynamics of selected marine bacteria.
To develop methods to assess mechanistic change at the sub cellular level associated with exposure to contaminants in bacteria.
To determine the relationship between growth dynamics and sub cellular change in bacteria under controlled experimental conditions.
To develop a field application system for the determination of risk by measuring the effect of contaminants on caged bacteria.
