Objective
1.To explore the potential of Lotus as a low-input grazing legume for condition of low soil fertility (formerly described as 'To explore the potential of low input grazing legumes in conditions of low fertility and impedded drainage') a) To screen a collection of Lotus species and varieties in an acid, low phosphate soil with impedded drainage. b) Assess influence of four companion grasses on sward output and Lotus productivity and survival. c) Performance of Lotus/grass mixtures in low fertility upland swards.
