Enumeration of Giardia in Drinking water - WT02029

Description
Giardiasis is a significant cause of water-bourne disease outbreaks in the USA and, althogh no such outbreaks have been proven in the UK, and only one suspected, there are a significant number of sporadic cases of infection detected in England and Wales each year, without the source of infection being determined.

Like cryptosporidium, domestic and other livestock constitute a major reservoir of infection.

01: Investigate the possibility of identifying and enumerating Giardia cysts on the slides prepared for regulatory cryptosporidium analysis

02: Investigate the possibilty of identifying and enumerating Giardia cysts in portions of the concentrate prepared for cryptosporidium analysis.

03: Investigate the possibilty of identifying and enumerating Giardia cysts in portions of the eluate from filters used to retain oocysts for cryptosporidium analysis.
