Alternative nitrogen-containing fertiliser materials - NT2601
|
Description
The project is one of two scoping studies (NT2601 and NT2602) that will evaluate possible alternative fertilisers to ammonium nitrate for use in the UK, and will provide a framework for new research to be carried out in NT26 Phase 2. To meet the objectives of NT2601, a very diverse range of issues will be considered making use of existing UK and international information, expertise and experience. For ease of technical assessment and project management, the issues to be considered have been structured into Work Packages (WP) as follows.
WP1. Nitrogen fertiliser supply and use in the UK
WP2. International nitrogen fertiliser use experience
WP3. Alternative N-containing fertiliser materials
WP4. UK supply chain issues
WP5. Agronomic effectiveness and environmental impact – Arable systems
WP6. Agronomic effectiveness and environmental impact – Grassland systems
WP7. Agronomic effectiveness and environmental impact – Horticultural systems
WP8. Effects of N source on soil processes and rooting; ammonia recycling
WP9. Agronomic effectiveness and environmental impact – modelling potential
WP10. Synthesis, recommendations and detailed protocols for future research
