Description
Summary Objective
Assess the differences in the expression of genes and proteins by exposing sticklebacks, a widely available and extensively studied fish, to a range of chemicals, either singly or in combination. Determine the feasibility and limitations of using molecular techniques to determine toxicological effects to ecosystems.
Key Customer Purpose
New hazardous substances are continually being considered for prioritisation and risk assessment. Defra protects the marine environment and the outputs will provide potentially novel solutions that help respond to the emerging EU Marine Strategy and data for discussion at OSPAR.
