Endocrine modulating effects of sewage treatment works effluents - analytical support - CB01006
|
Description
Research has shown that male fish exposed to sewage effluent from 50 days post hatch develop feminised sperm ducts though they do not demonstrate any intersex. This contract is part of a larger effort to investigate the inmpacts of 2 sewage effluents, receiving different degrees of treatment, on fish exposed from hatching to 50 days post hatch to determine whether or not it is exposure during this period which induces the intersex condition. The contract also covers the possibility of using molluscs as sentinenls for oestrogenic impacts in fish.
Objective - to provide analytical chemistry on the test effluents for the early life stage and adult spawning fish exposures in the Environment Agency/water industry funded study of endocrine modulating effects of sewage treatment works effluents at Great Billing and Chelmsford. |
