Description
Summary Objective
Further develop and apply existing sediment bioassays and complementary indicator tests to internationally acceptable standards. Explore the usefulness of emerging cellular and sub cellular techniques e.g. using flounder, mussel and other biota to provide an overall assessment of health.
Key Customer Purpose
Underpin the UK National Marine Monitoring Programme and respond to international initiatives e.g. ICES and OSPAR. Help provide practical solutions to the Water Framework Directive and the European Environment Agency.
