Updating the Ammonia Emissions Inventory for the UK for 1999 - AM0108

Description
The ammonia emission inventory for UK agriculture, compiled at the end of MAFF Project OC9117 and updated under MAFF Project WA0630 will be updated for a further year (1999 specific data). Changes in animal numbers, fertiliser use, management practices and new emission factors arising from current work will be incorporated and the Excel spreadsheet modified accordingly. The inventory of ammonia emissions from non-agricultural sources, compiled under MAFF Project WA0649, will also be reviewed and updated according to any new information which has become available since the completion of that project. The sum of the two updated inventories will give the estimated total ammonia emission for the UK for 1999.
An accurate, up to date ammonia emission inventory is required by MAFF to support environmental policy and to strengthen the UK position in negotiating international protocols to limit emission of N species to the atmosphere.
Objective
1. Revise and update inventory of ammonia emissions from UK agriculture for 1999
2. Revise and update inventory of ammonia emissions from non-agricultural UK sources for 1999
3. Provide an estimate of total ammonia emission from the UK for 1999.
4. Place the inventory of ammonia emissions from UK agriculture for past and current years on the IGER web site.
