Summary Objectives:-
Establish sampling stategies and protocols for at least two
important shellfish areas in accordance with forthcoming EC
guidelines. Broadly assess the influence environmental
factors have on the uptake of microbiological pathogens by
bivalve shellfish.
Key customer purpose:-
Enable MAFF to comment on and implement the forthcoming EC
legislation on designation of shellfish harvesting areas. |
Objective
1.To identify which environmental and physiological factors
are most significant in influencing the take up of
microbiological pathogens by bivalve shellfish.
2.To derive sampling strategies or protocols which best
reflect the true microbiological status of different
harvesting areas.
