Monitoring for Radioactivity in the Sea off Hebridies (COMPLETED 3/93) - AE0110

R&D Summary Objectives:- Provide sea water samples from the Sea off Hebrides on a quarterly basis to enable MAFF to assess the extent of radio nuclide contamination, particularly radio caesium, and thus continue a time-series of data for this area. Key customer purpose:- Allow MAFF to fulfil its statutory duties under the Radioactive Substances Act 1960 and FEPA 1985, to monitor the radioactive discharge from Sellafield.
To provide sea water samples from the sea off Hebrides on a regular basis so that the extent of radionuclide, particularly radiocaesium, contamination can be assessed by MAFF and SOAFD.
