Gene regulation in transgenic wheat including methods to increase expression and/or reduce variation in expression - CE0171
|
Description
Abstract of research
Main Objectives To improve the efficiency of wheat transformation. To understand the relationship between the construct architecture, transgene architecture and chromosomal position on the expression of individual transgenes in populations of transgenic plants.
Policy Relevance: CTD 9802 Crop Molecular Genetics – improvements to cereal transformation.
Intended Use of Results Improvements to transformation protocols will be communicated to other laboratories and UK companies. Studies of transgene structure and cassette architecture will provide an insight into the way these parameters influence the stability of transgene expression between and within populations of wheat. The results should be equally applicable to other cereals.
