Set net/ dolphin interactions - MF0712

Description
Summary Objectives:-
Monitor the UK gillnet fishery in the North Sea, the large-mesh gill and tangle net fisheries of the Scottish West coast and the freezer gillnet fleet, in order to estimate cetacean by-catch rates.

Key Customer Purpose:-
Results will provide new information on the extent and size of cetacean by-catches in UK fisheries and will enable MAFF to assess and implement management measures which may decrease by-catch whilst minimising any reduction in fishing efficiency
