Influence of n-3 PUFA intake on the expression of genes andn cell surface molecules involved in endothelial inflammation - AN0239

Objective
The aim is to address the following questions: 1. Is there a dose response relationship between n-3 PUFA intake and the presence, distribution and activation state of macrophages and T lymphocytes within athermatous tissue? Any relationship between the expression of these cell markers and the fatty acid composition of plasma, adipose tissue and plaque will also be investigated. 2. Is there a dose response relationship between n-3 PUFA intake and the recruitment of blood derived macrophages into human atherosclerotic plaques? 3. Is there a dose response relationship between n-3 PUFA intake and the expression of VCAM-1 on endothelial cells in human arterial tissue? 4. Is there a dose response relationship between n-3 PUFA intake and the expression of mRNA for endothelial adhesion molecules in vivo?
