Development of assays for clostridium botulinum toxins in food - FS1249

Objective
The objectives of the proposed project is to develop sensitive assays for botulinum types A, B, E and F neurotoxins into a format which may be marketed as a kit and used by industry and regulatory authorities. A target profile for these products is that:- (a) these assay kit detect all serotype/strain variations of each toxin type; (b) the sensitivity of the assay is better than that provided by the acute toxicity test performed in mice.
