Characterisation and modification to improve cleanability and hygienic status
1. To evaluate cleanability of surface materials of interest to the food industry 2. To determine the effect of surface wear and damage on fouling, cleanability and hygiene 3. To design systems (chemicals and procedures) which reduce surface wear while providing effective cleaning 4. To evaluate surface treatments which prevent damage and/or microbial fouling 5. To evaluate new surface materials with increased cleanability or resistance to wear
