Objective
1.To determine the effect of a range of secondary BAs and
butyrate upon the
rate of cell proliferation and apoptosis in primary cultures
of normal colonic
epithelial cells, adenoma cells and carcinoma cells.
2.To determine the effect of secondary BA and butyrate upon
the activation
of protein kinases involved in mitogenic and apoptosis
signalling pathways.
2.To determine the effect of BA and butyrate upon the
expression of genes
associated with cell proliferation and apoptosis.
