Defining Biomarkers of Different Carbohydrate intakes in populations with varying insulin sensitivity. - AN0311

Objective
1.To assess how IGF-1 and IGFBP-1 vary with different levels of insulin sensitivity, determined by glucose tolerance testing. 2.To develop a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) to assess CHO intake in an Indo-origin population group. 3.To calibrate the FFQ against an assessment of dietary CHO intake using a 7-day food record. 4.To assess how IGF-1 and IGFBP-1, insulin and proinsulin levels vary with different amounts of CHO and different types of CHO - containing foods in the diet; and to determine the usefulness of IGF-1 or IGFBP-1 as a potential marker for CHO intake.
